There are some restaurants that you go to just to enjoy the free bread. Just like Olive Garden Breadsticks, the rolls from Texas Roadhouse are a very special thing. What is a Texas Roadhouse Roll? These soft, tender dinner rolls  are served in the restaurant warm and fragrant with a generous side of Cinnamon Honey Butter. The whole table will fight over who gets the last one before they bring another basket, because they are just that good.  This recipe is a yeasted bread roll recipe that altogether includes about 90 minutes of rise time. If you’re in a hurry, try my 30 Minute Bread Rolls. They are delicious too and will do the trick, even if they aren’t quite as amazing as this Texas Roadhouse copycat.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Ingredients Needed

Milk: You want your milk to be scalded, meaning that it’s been heated to just below boiling and then left to cool down to a lukewarm temperature. You can use any fat percentage milk that you like.Melted Butter: We’ll use butter in the dough, and add more to the rolls after they cook to make sure they are extra buttery. Egg:  An egg makes yeast breads richer, adds color, and helps bind all of the ingredients together. Honey: Honey adds the perfect amount of sweetness to this recipe. Yeast: Instant dry yeast is the easiest to use, but active dry yeast can be used as well. Flour: No need for special flours here, all purpose flour is perfect. You may need more or less for rolling out the rolls. Salt: Just a bit to give the rolls extra flavor and balance the sweetness of the honey.

How to Make This Texas Roadhouse Rolls Recipe

Recipe Tips

Start with scalded milk. To make a yeast roll with milk, it’s important to scald it first in order to kill the milk proteins, which can make the rolls hard and not fluffy. To get the milk to the right temperature, bring it just to a boil on the stove, and then let it cool down until it’s lukewarm. Use your favorite yeast. This recipe can be made with either Instant dry yeast or active dry yeast. The recipe is written with instant yeast, but is the same with active, it will just need about 10 minutes to activate with the milk and honey.

What to Serve with Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Enjoy them for breakfast: Substitute these buttery rolls for the traditional biscuits you’d serve with jam or Sausage Gravy. I think these rolls would make amazing mini breakfast sandwiches too!  Serve with soup: You’ll love a Texas Roadhouse roll (or 2!) on the side of a hot, creamy bowl of soup, like this Broccoli Cheddar Soup, or Zuppa Toscana.  Or with Salad: A healthy salad with a side of amazing bread is one of my favorite lunch or light dinner meals! Enjoy Texas Roadhouse Bread with a Simple Tossed Green Salad or Kale Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette.  Rolls with dinner: Enjoy these soft rolls as intended, as dinner rolls. While I think these would be delicious with almost any entree, I’d especially recommend that you try them along with Easy Roast Chicken, Instant Pot Cube Steak, Oven Beef Stew, or Instant Pot Beef Stew.  I just love these fluffy soft rolls that are just like Texas Roadhouse and I know that you will too!
