Stone House Seasoning

This seasoning is essential in my kitchen, I always make sure that I have little jars of stone house seasoning in my pantry to use every time I cook. I add it to meats, vegetables, pasta dishes, sauces, salads, and what not! My mother always made this seasoning, we just called seasoned salt instead. After doing some research online, I realized that this is the same as stone house seasoning or house seasoning. So many recipes use salt, ground black pepper, and garlic. And this seasoning makes it easier to reach out to one mix and have all of that added to the food at once. Whether you cook a lot of steaks, or you roast veggies, you will find this very handy, and it will save you lots of time when you’re cooking.

Stone House Seasoning Ingredients

To make your own homemade stone house seasoning, you will need:

Salt: Use table salt, sea salt, or kosher salt. Whatever you have available! I wouldn’t recommend using salt flakes or coarse salt though. So you will need fine grain salt.Garlic: I usually go for garlic granules, but garlic powder also works great. The only difference between the 2 is the texture, as granules are coarser and have the same texture as cornmeal while garlic powder is just a fine powder.Black pepper: You will need ground black pepper, slightly coarse or fine black pepper work fine. You can also add onion powder, paprika, or smoked paprika to the blend if you like (optional).

You can double or triple the amounts depending on how much seasoning you want to make. If you use 5 tablespoons of each ingredient, you will end up with about 1 cup of seasoning. The ratio is 1:1:1 but feel free to adjust the ratio to your preference. My mother likes to add more salt and less black pepper, so she usually does 3:1:1 (3 parts is the salt) and that’s why we always called it “seasoned salt”. Store the stone house seasoning in little glass jars with lids at room temperature in your pantry. Use within 1 year.
