Did you have a good weekend friends? We had a weekend packed with kids’ playdates, work for me, and fun family time! We took the kids to a local Strawberry Festival, and though there was nary a strawberry in sight and not one, but seventeen thousand fights over lemonade, it was so fun to get out of the house with the kids. Yesterday my extremely brave husband took the kids to the local pool by himself. He is officially my hero. Hooray for summertime fun! Summertime fun, of course, would not be complete without great Fourth of July celebrations. Around here that means parades, cook-outs full of great recipes, kiddie pools, and cocktails! I haven’t thought about the full menu yet, but I’m thinking that it will need to include this Strawberry Spinach Salad for sure and I’m currently craving my mom’s guacamole recipe, so I think that needs to make an appearance too. And for SURE these Red White and Blue Wine Slushies need to happen! Aren’t they so pretty? I’m totally in love with them.

WHAT ARE WINE SLUSHIES?

Wine Slushies are typically made in a blender with some wine, a little frozen fruit, and some simple syrup. If you want a really basic one, you can try my Three Ingredient Wine Slushie, an easy strawberry wine slushie. After you have the basic wine slushie recipe it’s easy to make Moscato Wine Slushies, Rose Wine Slushies, and White Wine Slushies. You can even make a Sangria Wine Slushie.

WHAT IS IN RED WHITE AND BLUE WINE SLUSHIES?

The Blue Layer is blue wine and frozen bananas. It took a LOT of tries to make a blue layer that was the color I wanted, and I ended up using some blue food coloring to get it the right color. The blue wine I used is very very sweet. If you can’t find blue wine, use a white wine with bananas and simple syrup along with blue food coloring. The White Layer is white wine with sweetened coconut milk. It is seriously amazing. The Red Layer is Rose and frozen red tart cherries. You could definitely use dark sweet, but the color would be different and I love the tartness with the other flavors in this cocktail recipe. The flavors in each layer are very different but they go together so perfectly!
