Did you know that today is the longest day of the year, and officially the start of summer? This makes me SO excited, we had a long winter this year and summer means picnics, BBQs and festivals! Talking about picnics, what are your picnic essentials? To me, it’s a picnic blanket, some drinks, and good food! The food that I usually take with me to picnics is very simple, but delicious, and these peanut butter and jelly (or jam for us here in the UK) sandwiches are my favorite! An American classic, this is probably America’s most popular sandwich. Think about it, layers of creamy peanut butter and sweet strawberry jelly layers on toasted seeded bread. What’s not to like? To make this sandwich more special, I just slice some fresh strawberries and layer them over the creamy peanut butter for some extra freshness! Make a dog-friendly peanut butter treat for your sidekick! Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats will be your pup’s new favorite.
How to Make Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich?
Start with toasting the bread. Choose good quality bread, slice it and toast lightly in a toaster until it’s slightly crunchy. For each sandwich, you will need 3 slices of toasted bread. Take the first slice, and generously spread a layer of creamy Peanut Butter over it, followed by a layer of strawberry jelly (jam). Take another slice of toasted bread, and again spread peanut butter on it then top with sliced strawberries (you can also sprinkle with some chia seeds if you like). To assemble the sandwich, take the first slice of bread and top it with the second one. And finally, top with the third slice of toasted bread. Cut into halves or quarters and enjoy!
Are Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches Healthy?
They are! If you use whole grain bread, Peanut Butter, homemade strawberry jam or jelly, and top with fresh strawberries. Then the sandwich is absolutely healthy, and it’s great for children too. © Little Sunny Kitchen
