How to Store Asparagus

If you aren’t making this roasted asparagus recipe the day you come home from the grocery store, you are going to want to store it in your refrigerator.

Give the asparagus a little trim.Put it in a glass with just an inch or two of water. No need to fill the whole glass.Store the glass in the refrigerator until you are ready to use.

Cutting Your Asparagus

When you are ready to make your baked asparagus, take the jar out of the refrigerator. Give the asparagus a light wash. You want to take off a bit of the bottom, so you are left with just the fleshy part of the asparagus and none of the woody stem. As you can see in the photo below and the video in the recipe card, asparagus makes it super helpful to know where to cut off the base. You can just snap it and it will naturally break where the edible portion begins. Either snap all of the asparagus, or snap one piece and use it as a guide as to where to cut the rest. You can see that the first asparagus is the one I snapped and I am using the rest to guide where to cut.

Or you can just snap all of them. It takes a little longer, but there’s something satisfying about it.
