If you are looking for a simple but delicious after dinner cocktail, it doesn’t get much better than the Negroni. The combination of Gin and Campari makes for a slightly fruity flavor that is absolutely delicious.

Negroni Ingredients

This great drink comes together with three simple ingredients.

Gin: We love Bombay Saphire which is a great middle of the road gin. If you are looking for top shelf, we recommend Sipsmith London Dry Gin. If you are looking for a budget friendly option, try Gordon’s.Campari: This is an Italian liqueur made with different herbs and fruit.Sweet Vermouth: Vermouth is a wine that is flavored with different botanicals. You can find it in both sweet and dry. We are using sweet here, but we use dry in our Gin Martini.

How to Make a Negroni

What is a Negroni

A Negori is a classic Italian cocktail that combines three liquors in the perfect equal ratio. Traditionally, it is served as an aperitif, a cocktail before dinner. Rumor has it that it is named for Pascal Olivier Count de Negroni, a French general, who asked a bartender in Florence to make a stronger version of his favorite cocktail, the Americano. The bartender obliged by trading out the carbonated water for gin. Sounds like my kind of swap.

Negroni Variations

Americano: As mentioned above, if you swap the gin for carbonated water in a Negroni, you have an Americano. Boulevardier: This recipes swaps the gin for whiskey, and it is delicious.Agavoni: Swap the gin for tequila in this great twist.Cardinale: If you only have dry vermouth, you can use that in place of the sweet and you will be making a Cardinale.
