How To Make Halloween Snack Mix
Recipe Tips
Remove Any Kernels. After you pop the popcorn, you need to make sure that you remove all the unpopped kernels in the bag before you add it to the snack mix. Do not Crowd Your Baking Sheet. You have to spread out the mix and may need to work in 2 batches, just be careful not to overcrowd the pan as you want the melted chocolate to reach all layers (just like nachos and cheese!). When mixing together your trail mix, your heavier items may go to the bottom of the bowl. This is okay. Your ingredients will evenly out more when you pour them onto your serving dish. Add 1 tablespoon of Crisco shortening to your melting chocolate to give it even more white coloring for the spider web. When drizzling the white chocolate over the trail mix, do this in a quick slinging motion to create even more of a web effect! Avoid just dolloping the chocolate over top or only allowing it to fall off the spoon. This causes the web to look thick and you want some thinner web lines, created by a slinging motion. Serve this trail mix on a large party trail or in individual bowls. Other Add-ins. There are so many things that you can add to your Halloween Chex mix. Here are some ideas: Roasted and salted peanuts, autumn mix candy corn (Brach’s candy), Bugles, Reese’s pieces, Cheez-its, mini marshmallows, cheese puffs, caramel corn, animal crackers…
