I am so excited for today’s recipe! I’m sharing with you the best Mojito Recipe. I’m guilty of being a creature of habit, and one of my habits is going to a Cuban restaurant with Nathan on our date nights for a first stop. We get the most amazing croquettes and a delicious mojito cocktail before heading on to our final destination. It is probably the reason why I always have mojitos on the brain and have made so many mojito variations – don’t miss the list at the bottom of the post.

Using Other Alcohol

A traditional mojito recipe is made with rum. If you don’t like rum, you could substitute it with vodka or even tequila as I do in my Mojito Margarita recipe, though you will be missing the classic flavor. Traditional mojitos use granulated sugar, but I find that using simple syrup makes for a smoother texture that I really love. Please note that the full measurements can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Simple Syrup: I have a tutorial on how to make your own and always keep a mason jar of it in my refrigerator. Mint Leaves: A key part of the mojito, fresh mint leaves are gently muddled or crushed to release their oils. Lime Juice: Juice from fresh limes is best, but don’t skip making this amazing cocktail if you only have bottled. White Rum: Use a quality light or white rum to make this recipe. The best rum for mojitos is one that you enjoy the flavor of, I use Bacardi. Club Soda: Finishes off the cocktail with a refreshing fizz. I love to buy those little bottles of club soda to keep in my pantry so that I always have fresh club soda on hand for cocktails.

Muddle the mint leaves. Add the mint leaves to a glass. Add the simple syrup and fresh lime juice over them and muddle to combine. It just needs a few gentle pushes. If you don’t have a muddler, use the handle of a wooden spoon or the handle of an ice cream scoop. Add the rum. Then fill the glass with ice. Top with club soda. Gently stir and garnish with some extra mint leaves or a mint sprig.

Bacardí Superior White Rum is your best budget friendly option. I’ve had many a mojito with this and it is always delicious. Ten to One is a Caribbean rum and such a great choice. It is double the cost of Bacardi, and very well rated. The Real McCoy is a similar price point as Ten to One. It is highly rated and works great in cocktails.
