What are overnight oats?

I am excited to introduce you to the world of overnight oats. If you’re new to this recipe, let me tell you, it’s the most amazing meal you’ll ever have. It’s a healthy breakfast option that can be prepped ahead of time, and it’s extremely customizable. You can add in fruits, granola, nuts, nut butter, seeds, syrups, and much more to make it your own. The process is incredibly simple, it just takes 5 minutes of your time. I use rolled old-fashioned oats and soak them in a liquid mixture. Then I add a sweetener of my choice and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight. The oats absorb all the liquid, making it perfect for the morning. I also like to add variations like cocoa powder or almond butter. Doing meal prep the night before makes my morning routine so much easier and stress-free. I wake up to a delicious and healthy breakfast with no need to cook.

Can you eat overnight oats warm or cold?

The idea of eating cold oatmeal may seem strange to some, but it can be quite delicious. I personally prefer to eat overnight oats cold, straight out of the refrigerator, as it’s convenient for a quick grab-and-go breakfast. However, you can also choose to eat them warm. To do this, heat the oats in the microwave for 30-60 seconds, stirring in between. Another option is to warm the oats in a saucepan on the stove.

How long do overnight oats need to soak?

Overnight oats typically need to soak for at least 6 hours or overnight. Hence the name “overnight oats”. However, they can be ready to eat in as little as 2 hours. The longer the oats soak, the creamier the texture will be.
The next morning, you’ll have a delicious and ready-to-eat creamy oatmeal breakfast, without the need for cooking.

Yes, it is possible to make vegan overnight oatmeal. Instead of using milk or yogurt, you can use plant-based milk such as almond milk, soy milk, or coconut milk as a base for your overnight oats. You can also use plant-based yogurts like almond yogurt or soy yogurt.
