She is a genius when it comes to pressure cooking and her first cookbook is what taught me how to use my Instant Pot. This steel cut oat recipe is another work of genius. Today I’m going to give you the basic version as well as the Cinnamon Roll Steel Cut Oat dessert version from Barbra and Marci.
How to Make Steel Cut Oats in the Instant Pot
This recipe only takes 30 minutes, with about 8 minutes of hands on time. Setting your pressure cooker for 10 minutes, you let it do most of the work! (For the full recipe and instructions, head to the bottom of the post.)
Benefits of Steel Cut Oats
One of the things I like most about steel cut oats is that they are low on the glycemic index. They spike your blood sugar less than traditional oats. They also have 5 grams of protein per 1/4 cup of dry oats. You can read more about their benefits here. If you are looking for a gluten free breakfast, this is a great option.
Cinnamon Roll Steel Cut Oats
As I mentioned, this recipe can be dressed up as a dessert with a few simple additions. You will need:
3/4 cup of raisins (optional)1/4 cup packed brown sugar1 teaspoon ground cinnamon2 ounces cream cheese (softened)2 tablespoons powdered sugar1 teaspoon milk
