Easy spicy potato chips recipe below
Back in India, when you order Vegetable Biryani or seasoned rice, you’re often served these masala chips (as they’re called) along with onion raita in a few local restaurants, especially in the southern regions. Though simple, the combination is incredible, and I always find myself reaching for a second helping! You can also find these spicy chips sold in small packets from corner shops in Bangalore and Chennai that make them fresh for you. Note: In India and the US, “potato chips” refer to the same snack as “potato crisps” in the UK. Whether you call them spicy potato crisps like we do in the UK or chili crisps as they’re known around the world, they’re the same irresistible snack. Enjoy this for Netflix binge-watching or as a crowd-pleaser when entertaining guests—it’s always a hit!
Variations
Feel free to experiment with different seasonings! Try adding natural flavors like onion powder, garlic powder, salt, or smoked paprika to give the crisps a unique twist. Other seasoning to try are Old Bay Seasoning, cajun Seasoning and Fajita seasoning. You can also use the same seasonings to spice up tortilla chips for a delicious alternative.
Serving Suggestions
These spicy crisps are so addictive, you won’t be able to stop at just one. They make a fantastic nibble to serve with drinks. For a more filling meal, pair them with Indian rice dishes like Puliogare (tamarind rice), vegetable biryani, or vegetable pulao. They complement these dishes perfectly.
