OATS IDLI RECIPE
We all love Crispy Dosa & Soft and Fluffy Idli for breakfast along with some Tiffin Sambar, Chutney’s or Potato Sagu. However whenever I run out of Idli Batter, I always end up making this INSTANT OATS IDLY OR RAVA IDLI. Both the recipes can be made almost instantly and no fermentation process required. This recipe does not require any rice and urad dal unlike our staple idli recipes. For those of you who are not familiar with Idli, Idli batter is made with Rice and Urad Dal. Grind them to a batter and place them in a warm place to ferment the batter. This recipe is based on my recipe for Rava Idli. I have replaced a portion of rava / semolina for oats. It really works well!! Instant Idlis are one of the healthiest and most delicious recipes to include Oats in our diet. I like to stand by it. Pour the prepared idli batter in the idli stand and steam them to make soft and spongy perfect idli.

Roast Oats flour - Place the Oats in a blender and grind to a coarse powder. Next, place the oats flour in a pan and dry roast for two minutes until fragrant. Set it aside and allow it cool down. Mix the Ingredients - In a mixing bowl, add roasted oats flour, grated carrots and coriander leaves. Add Salt, Curd, Cup Water and mix well. Remember a medium spoonable consistency must be achieved. If you think the batter is too thick, add a little more water is needed. Remember the batter should not be very thin. Set the batter aside and allow it to settle for at-least 10 minutes. Steam the Idli - Add fruit salt to the Idli Batter and stir well. Apply oil to the idli plate. Spoon the prepared idli batter onto the plates and steam them in your pressure cooker or instant pot for approximately 12- 14 minutes. Check by inserting a fork in it. If the Idly’s come out clean, we are ready to remove them from the plate. Serve hot spongy idli with your favourite accompaniment.
