Butter: The tops of these sandwiches will be brushed with a deliciously seasoned butter sauce. Start with unsalted butter that’s been melted. Dijon Mustard: This savory spread goes perfectly with ham and swiss. Use Everything Bagel Seasoning if you have it instead.Garlic Powder, Dried Onion, and Worcestershire Sauce: Keep adding layers of flavor to your butter sauce.Sweet Hawaiian Rolls: If you ever needed an excuse to buy a package of King’s Hawaiian rolls, this is it! They are soft and small; perfect for sliders. Deli Ham and Sliced Swiss Cheese: Get your deli meat and cheese sliced thinly for making these ham and cheese sliders.
How to Make Hot Ham and Cheese Sliders
Hot ham and cheese sliders are so easy to make!
Recipe Tips
Not a ham fan? Make these with thinly sliced turkey or deli-style chicken instead. Switch up the cheese. Swiss is a classic flavor, but you can try mozzarella, provolone, American, or cheddar cheese instead. Unsalted Butter: I like to avoid adding salt to the butter mixture because I like more of the sweet and savory flavors to come through. If you want, you can use salted butter or add a pinch of salt to the butter mixture, but it’s not necessary. The ham adds the right amount of saltiness to this recipe. Use a Serrated Knife: Hawaiian rolls are very soft, so a regular straight knife will crush them. A serrated knife does the best job of slicing through them easily. Another trick for easily slicing Hawaiian rolls: Place them in the freezer for about 15 minutes. They will firm up a bit and slice super easily. Can’t find Hawaiian Rolls? Try using soft packaged dinner rolls instead.
What to Serve With Hot Ham and Cheese Sliders
Make a meal: Serve this recipe with simple side dishes that will make everyone happy. I like to make Air Fryer Tater Tots and a Simple Tossed Salad to go with ham and cheese sliders. Serve Finger Foods: For a casual dinner or game day get-together, serve sliders with other easy-to-eat small bites like Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms and Air Fryer Jalapeno Poppers. Make The Kids Happy: Sliders are the perfect kid-friendly meal. Serve up some Chocolate Cupcakes or Soft Monster Cookies for dessert. Ham and Cheese Sliders are a classic. Made on Hawaiian rolls and with the best sauce on top, these are going to be a huge hit no matter who you serve them to. The combination of butter, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and dried minced onions is perfection. If you are making this recipe ahead of time, you will want to wait until right before baking make and pour on the sauce. It is important that for the first 15 minutes of the baking time they are covered with foil. In the last 10 minutes of baking, the foil comes off and it allows the tops of the sliders to crisp up in the best way.
