With Lent just around the corner, I realize that I am short on fish recipes and vegetarian recipes. Well, I have more of both coming up. The next is an amazing Fish Taco recipe that I am over the moon for. I could eat it weekly. (Look for that recipe on Thursday!) One of the things that makes the tacos so delicious is this very simple sauce for Fish Tacos. But realistically, this sauce would be great on all sorts of tacos. It is made with ingredients I always have on hands, and whips up in minutes.

Low Fat Sour Cream: You will not miss the fat in this, and it cuts down on the calories. When they make low fat sour cream, they just use a lower fat content milk to make it. It’s delicious!Low Fat Plain Yogurt: Again, you won’t miss the calories here.Lime Juice: I highly encourage you to use fresh lime juice, but if you don’t have that, bottled will work in a pinch.Sriracha Sauce: This is what brings the slightest bit of heat to this recipe. If you taste it and want more heat, just add more! If you don’t have Sriracha, you can use hot sauce too, just start with a little less.Sugar: There is the tiniest bit of sugar in this recipe to balance the sourness of the lime juice, yogurt, and sour cream.Kosher Salt: The littlest bit of salt added to this recipe helps the other ingredients shine. Note that we are using kosher salt. If you only have table salt, start with 1/4 teaspoon.

How to Adjust Fish Taco Sauce
Everyone’s tastes are different, so it might be helpful to know how to make simple adjustments to this easy fish tacos sauce.
If the sauce is too spicy, add a little more sour cream. If the sauce is not spicy enough, add more Sriracha. If the sauce is too strong (you just can’t put your finger on what), you probably are feeling like it is overwhelmingly sour, and you should add just a pinch more sugar. If the sauce is too sweet, add a pinch more lime juice.
Why Yogurt and Sour Cream
This is a great question. Both ingredients are similar, but we are specifically using both because they each bring something different to the party. Yogurt has more tang, and sour cream has more creaminess. So together, they are this perfect balance of tang and cream.
Storing Fish Taco Sauce
This recipe will last in the refrigerator for a week. You need very little for your tacos. You might find after trying it once or twice that you only need a half batch when your family has taco night.
