I realize that Little Debbie snack cakes are available all year round in a plain hexagon shape, but there is something really special about the seasonal Christmas tree cakes that you can only get in the winter. They probably taste the same, but the little bit of crunch from the sugar sprinkles and the festive shape just makes the trees my favorite. Turning Christmas tree cakes into a Christmas tree cake dip is entirely too easy. We’re just going to unwrap a box of Little Debbie trees, and mix them up with Cool Whip and more sprinkles. You can make this dip in under 10 minutes and have it ready to serve guests. Love Dessert Dips? You have to try my Funfetti Cake Batter Dip next.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Key Ingredients
Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes: You’ll need 8 tree cakes to make this dip. Unless you find a large pack somewhere, they typically come in packages of 5. So buy two boxes and enjoy the extras! Cool Whip: Whipped topping added to these sweet cakes makes the most delicious, light and fluffy dessert dip. Vanilla Extract: Vanilla adds a nice hint of flavor to the cool whip to maintain the lightly sweet cake taste. Sprinkles: Holiday sprinkles are a must for this dip, they add to the festive nature and make it so fun.
How to Make Christmas Tree Cake Dip
Recipe Tips
Choose the right sprinkles: Some sprinkles are better than others when it comes to adding them into things. Jimmy style sprinkles (the long, skinny ones) are least likely to bleed colors into your dessert dips. Nonpareils or sugar sprinkles will likely change the color of the cool whip. Store in the fridge: Keep this dip stored in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve it, and don’t leave it out for longer than 2 hours at room temperature. The cool whip will deflate if left out too long. To make it thicker: Make the dip a few hours ahead of time if you want it to be thicker. The cake will absorb liquid from the whipped topping during that time and thicken up the christmas tree cake dip. Cut it in half: If you’re not serving 16 people, cut all of the ingredients in half and make a smaller amount of dip.
