When you buy a jar of curry powder from the spice aisle, it is a combination of spices that make up the curry taste. The one I have for you here is not so much of a curry blend, but a blend of spices to achieve a delicious Indian-inspired flavor. There are so many flavor combinations you can achieve just by adding different or mixing different amounts of spices together.

How to Make an Easy Indian Spice Blend

This spice blend is a combination of:

Coriander Cumin Garam masala Turmeric Dry Mustard Salt Ground black pepper

I always have a large and varied collection of spices in my cabinet. Right now I have around 43 different spices. Call me a crazy spice lady (it may seem like a lot) but I do use them every day. Here are some examples:

Breakfast (I love fennel seed in my scrambled eggs) Lunch (dried dill for my salmon salad) Dinner (dried basil for grilled chicken)

I use this Easy Indian Spice Blend to flavor my Indian Spiced Peas (picture below) and recently started using it on simple grilled fish and chicken. Can you tell that Indian is my favorite cuisine?  I have almost 20 Indian and Indian-inspired recipes.

Big Batch Indian Spice Blend

This recipe is made in a big batch. This way you can keep the blend in a jar so it is on hand anytime you want to add instant flavor.  This spice blend will keep for years in a sealed container in a dark cabinet.

How to Remove Lumps from Spices

If you find your spices get lumps, this just means they’ve been exposed to the air and moisture and the lumps can be broken up with a shake or with a fork.
