You will love the combination of creamy chocolate on the outside, and the Oreo crunch on the inside. For more easy Oreo treats, check out my Oreo truffle recipe, or my Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies! I love making these easy chocolate-covered Oreos as they can be decorated for almost any occasion, and I can get the kids involved! As you only need 3 ingredients (or even 2) to make them, we make these treats quite often. I also like to wrap them in cellophane to give as an edible gift during the holidays, and we even tried making different themes. A drop of blue food coloring added to white chocolate or candy melts can turn these into Disney Frozen themed cookies, topped with snowflake sprinkles, of course!

Can These Chocolate Covered Oreos be Made Ahead?

These Oreo treats are perfect for making ahead! I always make a large batch, then store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 weeks. Store in a dry cool place, as sunlight or warm temperatures will melt the chocolate and ruin the decorations. If you freeze them, the outer layer of chocolate will change when thawed and won’t look very pleasant.

The Ingredients

To make these easy Oreo treats, you will only need 3 ingredients: Complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

Oreo cookies – use any flavor that you like! I usually use standard Oreos or Golden Oreos.Chocolate or candy melts – chocolate tastes better, but candy melts give you a smoother finish and harden quicker. So use whatever you prefer! You can use white, milk, or semi-sweet chocolate to make these.Sprinkles – to decorate, use your favorite sprinkles! Or if you don’t want to use sprinkles, drizzle with white chocolate instead. The sprinkles that I’m using in this recipe, are Wilton holiday mix sprinkles (a mix of traditional medley and jimmies).

How to Make Chocolate Covered Oreos

Super simple!

How to Make Oreo Pops

To make Oreo pops, just insert a lollipop stick into the middle of the Oreo cookie in the white cream. Holding the stick, dip in chocolate, and hold for a few seconds to allow any excess chocolate to drip off. Place on a parchment-lined pan/tray, then top with sprinkles and allow to set and harden.

Recipe Tips

Use high-quality chocolate or candy coating. I recommend using Ghirardelli melting wafers for coating cookies, fruit, and candies for the best result. You can also use almond bark if you wish.Avoid creating a chocolate ‘foot’ when placing the dipped Oreos on parchment paper by allowing the excess chocolate to drip off. You can also use a fork or a toothpick to get rid of any excess chocolate before placing it on parchment paper to set and harden. You can change things up and sprinkle the cookies with crushed nuts, toasted desiccated coconut, crushed pretzels, or decorate with icing. If you end up with some leftover melted chocolate, just drizzle it over the cookies if you like.
