We were over at a friend’s house the other day, and someone offered my 3-year-old daughter Valentine a glass of lemonade. She took a sip, then looked up at me with a shrug and said, “It’s good. But it’s not fresh.” ExCUSE me, child??

I seriously don’t know where this kid got her hoity toity attitude from. Certainly not from me. I am definitely not a foodie, despite the food blog you see here. Like, if I knew any French people, they might hate me and my powdered lemonade ways.

Maybe she’s not a total snob. Maybe it’s just that she and my son Truman are both total weirdos who will eat lemons and limes like they are oranges. Whenever I serve sliced limes as a garnish for tacos, they ask to eat them before they’ve even had any real food. See, weirdos. But I guess it does explain her strange knowledge about what fresh lemon tastes like?!

Is everybody excited for the weekend? Mine is starting off with a bang: I have to get a filling at the dentist. I didn’t even know that dentists worked on weekends, but somehow it just makes it hurt even more that I have to get Novocain’d on a Saturday.

But don’t think about the dentist. Think about these amazing Cookies and Cream cookies instead!

How to make Cookies and Cream Cookies

These cookies are the definition of over the top. I’m in love. We are taking a simple chocolate chip cookie recipe and folding in a bunch of Oreos, dark chocolate chips, and chopped up Hershey’s Cookies and Cream bars. (Have you ever had one of those? Sooo good.)

I knew that I wanted to chop Oreos into a fine crumb in a food processor and incorporate it into the dough, so the first time I made these that’s what I did. The cookies tasted amazing, but I didn’t love the color of the cookies. As could be expected, they turn the dough into this murky grey color. And like I said, they tasted great, but since we all eat with our eyes first, I decided to try a different strategy.

What I ended up doing was splitting the dough in half and adding the fine crumbs to just half the dough. Then when I shaped the cookies I marbled both types of dough together to create little hybrid cookies.

If this sounds like an annoying step to you, I get it. Sometimes you just need cookies NOW and don’t want the fuss. No problem! Just mix it all together in one bowl and you are good to go. See notes.

I like to top each cookie with a square of Cookies and Cream candy!

These cookies spread a lot. There are two ways to achieve a thicker cookie: you can either chill the dough for a little while before baking, or you can do the spoon trick. This just means using two spoons to push the edges of the cookie in toward the center RIGHT when it comes out of the oven. This helps make them super thick and chewy in the middle! You can see more pictures of the spoon trick on this post.

These cookies are my new favorite thing to make lately! No one can say no to Oreos, especially when they are incorporated into other desserts. Who can say no to a cookie in a cookie?
