You’ll be amazed and how quickly your homemade bunny bait hops away from the bowl at your Easter gathering! Nobody can resist the sweet and salty flavors or the bright and fun colors of this yummy snack mix. If you’re familiar with Christmas Crunch, Bunny Bait is the same thing, just redecorated for a springtime holiday. Crunchy popcorn and pretzels are tossed with pastel M&Ms and coated with white chocolate and holiday sprinkles. This easy dessert mixes up in a few minutes and is an Easter treat that everyone will love. Need more Easter dessert ideas? Try making a super cute Easter Peeps Cake, or a Chocolate Cake with a Yellow Peeps Sunflower. If you’d rather have a peeps-free dessert, make a classic southern style Banana Pudding instead!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Ingredients In Bunny Bait
Simple ingredients are mixed together to create this sweet and salty Easter snack mix! Complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.
Popcorn: You’ll need about 8 cups of popped popcorn. Microwave popcorn without the movie theatre butter flavor works, or you can use an air popper, or pop kernels on the stove. Any way you like to make popcorn is perfect! Mini Pretzels: I like the combination of the crunchy pretzels and the slightly softer popcorn in this mix. Candy Melts: We’ll add melted chocolate or candy melts to this mixture in two phases. The first phase is coating the popcorn with white chocolate or white vanilla candy melts. The second is where we can use different colored candy melts, drizzled on. Easter M&Ms: Look for these pastel pretties in the stores after Valentine’s day. Sprinkles: Your favorite spring colored or easter themed sprinkles will work in this recipe. They add color and make the bunny bait extra fun.
How To Make Easter Bunny Bait
Recipe Tips
Switch things up: The pretzels and popcorn in this recipe can be replaced with any of your favorite crunchy snacks or cereals. Try rice chex, cheerios, or even kettle cooked potato chips in the mix! Peanuts or other candy would be a tasty addition too. Be sure to remove the unpopped kernels! Nobody wants to bite down on one of those. Make it Gluten Free: Use gluten free pretzels, and skip the candy melts and use white chocolate instead. To set the chocolate faster: put the tray of bunny bait in the fridge or freezer. Just remember to pull it out to bag it for storage. (Learn from me, if you leave white chocolate popcorn in the fridge, uncovered, overnight, it goes stale!)
Storing Tips
Once the bunny bait has set, transfer it into ziplock bags or an airtight container. Your Easter treat should stay fresh for up to 3 days.
