Reduced Fat
You might notice in the recipe card that I used both low fat sour cream and mayonnaise in this recipe while keeping the cream cheese full fat. I love swapping in lower fat ingredients for regular. In the case of sour cream and mayonnaise, they don’t add any weird ingredients to make it low fat, it’s just less fat and calories for a a delicious ingredient. In the case of the cream cheese, I find that lower fat isn’t worth it. The consistency is too different. Try it with my lower fat swaps, I don’t think you’ll even miss the extra fat. Make it up to the point where you are stirring in the fresh ingredients. Stir in all of the bacon (not saving any for serving on top), but then stop. Transfer to an airtight container and store for up to two days. When you are ready to serve, take it out of the refrigerator, give it a good stir and then stir in the green onions and tomatoes. Bake as directed. If you have guests with specific dietary needs, here are some great things to keep in mind:
Gluten free: This BLT Dip is gluten free, so it is a great dip for those with that dietary need. Just be sure to serve it with gluten free crackers. I love Nut Thins for that. Low carb and Keto: This recipe is also Keto friendly! If you have guests coming over that are following a low carb diet, serving this with cucumber slices is a great idea.
