Simple Homemade Air fryer Samosas
I love Punjabi samosas and those delightful aloo samosas, you find at confectioneries. Not to mention the convenient option of Haldiram’s frozen samosas. However, they often come loaded with calories and are delicious when deep-fried to perfection. But now, I’ve got a cheat version for making healthier samosas in just around 30 minutes. Instead of making the covering from scratch, we are using store bought samosa sheets / pads. What’s even better is that these samosas are guilt-free, thanks to minimal oil usage in the air fryer. They’re the perfect addition to curry nights or when you’re hosting friends for a get-together. And if you know me, you will know how much I love creating effortless “fakeaway” versions of our favourite treats.
Homemade Air fryer Samosa filling recipe
Philips had challenged me to swap my takeaway for a healthy choice and I opted to make my favourite appetiser - Potato Samosas! The filling is simple. It is made with potatoes, peas and a blend of spices. Heat the oil, add cumin seeds. When they splutter, add the potatoes, slightly mashed, peas, spices like turmeric, chilli powder, salt and a sprinkle of garam masala. Cook for 2 minutes until well combined. Finally add a sprinkle of coriander leaves. Filling is pretty customisable. Adjust the spices to your liking.
How to make Air fryer Samosas quick and easy?
Begin by laying the samosa patti or samosa sheets/ pads on a chopping board. Take a portion of the samosa filling and place it on the left corner of the patti. Seal the samosa by folding it over from the other edge, carefully shaping it into a cone. Use a bit of water to wet the edges of the patti and gently press them to secure the seal. Repeat this process for the remaining samosas. To prevent the sheets from drying up, cover the samosas with a damp muslin cloth. Next, preheat the air fryer to 180°C for 5 minutes. While it’s preheating, brush the samosas with oil and arrange them in the air fryer basket. Air fry the samosas for 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden and crispy. Don’t forget to flip the samosas halfway through the cooking time for even crispiness. Enjoy your homemade air fryer samosas!
