I exercise everyday and maintain a healthy diet. Part of my post-workout routine is a protein packed smoothie. Protein is very important to help muscles recover and repair and keep me energized for the rest of the day. In the Winter, when I can’t get fresh berries I use frozen and for this reason, this is why this smoothie can be made year round. I’m not a fan of sweetened smoothies. I believe that if you use the sweetest fruit, there’s no reason to add any extra sweetness. That’s why I like to use the ripest banana because a banana gets sweeter as it ripens; this way, the smoothie gets sweetened naturally. Another favorite ingredient that I must have in my smoothies is my homemade almond butter. I’ve been making it for years and it’s a simple way to add extra protein and it helps give the smoothie a delicious, nutty taste as well as making it thick which helps fill me up. Not only are smoothies the perfect post (or pre) workout snack, they are also perfect to take with you. I like to keep the bottles from any store bought juice or smoothie to re-use them for my berry healthy smoothie so I can take it with me when I am running errands or even on a road trip. I think another reason why smoothies are so popular is because they can be made so quickly. It’s as easy as bringing home the ingredients, throwing everything into to the blender, then blending and drinking. More Smoothie Recipes:
